David Rubenstein, PsyDCenter for Brief Therapy

Dr. Rubenstein is the director of the Center for Brief Therapy. He previously directed the outpatient substance abuse clinic and ambulatory primary care HIV/AIDS mental health and substance abuse services at Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Rubenstein also managed and supervised clinical services in the mental health and substance abuse programs at PATH CMHC in Philadelphia and served as staff psychologist at Eagleville Hospital.

Dr. Rubenstein's research and supervisory interests, within the realm of adult outpatient psychotherapy, include integrating different theoretical modalities of treatment (CBT, psychodynamic, MI, DBT, ACT, and family systems) towards efficacious change in working with patients, management and addressing resistance to change and the application of motivational interviewing, substance abuse assessment and treatment, development of the therapeutic alliance across professional disciplines, and mentorship of student pathways towards professional growth, development and leadership.

Dr. Rubenstein has presented at the local, regional, national and international level throughout his career, addressing aspects of mental health, substance abuse, chronic medical conditions, and different aspects of treatment and psychotherapy.
